It\u2019s not just about finding the right person. It\u2019s about becoming the right person for the person you chose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because after 24 years, you realize marriage isn\u2019t sustained by feelings alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What holds a marriage together is commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s learning when to talk and when to just listen. It\u2019s being willing to say, \u201cI\u2019m sorry.\u201d It\u2019s giving each other grace. It\u2019s remembering that you\u2019re on the same team, even when you don\u2019t see things the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And ultimately, it\u2019s understanding that God needs to be at the center of it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two people can be strong together, but when God is on your team, there\u2019s a strength neither person could have on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking back on 24 years, I\u2019m grateful for so many things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But more than anything, I\u2019m grateful that God has been faithful to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\u2019s been there in the good seasons and the difficult ones. He\u2019s given us grace when we needed it, and He\u2019s reminded us to extend that same grace to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And if I could go back and talk to the two people who stood at that altar 24 years ago, I\u2019d give them this advice for their marriage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You don\u2019t have to have everything figured out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You just have to keep choosing each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep praying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep forgiving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keep laughing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When life gets difficult, don\u2019t forget who brought you together in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twenty-four years later, I\u2019m incredibly thankful for the woman I chose, and even more thankful that she chose me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And thank You, God, for 24 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
