Maybe you\u2019ve heard me say this on the STAR morning show<\/a>. It\u2019s something I love sharing, because people rarely think about it like this, and it\u2019s fantastic news:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God wants to partner with us.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don\u2019t always think about it that way, but it\u2019s true. He\u2019s always been looking for people to partner with, to walk through life with. He wants to partner with you<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might think this doesn\u2019t apply to you<\/strong>, because you\u2019re a sinner. Yes, he\u2019ll partner with someone like Abraham, but not you, right?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, Abraham was pretty messed-up, too. But he was faithful. That\u2019s what God is looking for from us. Faithfulness. He won\u2019t leave us, and he\u2019s looking for that same loyalty from us.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used to hear the story of Adam and Eve and take away the exact wrong lesson. I used to think, See, they disobeyed, and now God is done with them.<\/em> But that\u2019s not what happened at all.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adam and Eve disobeyed, but <\/strong>God didn\u2019t leave them. Ever.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man[a<\/a>]<\/sup> and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. 9 <\/sup>Then the Lord God called to the man, \u201cWhere are you?\u201d<\/p>\nGenesis 3:8-9<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He went looking for them. When they were hiding from Him, God said, \u201cAdam, where are you?\u201d which is kind of odd if you think about it. How would He not know where they are? But my understanding now is that God wasn\u2019t looking for GPS coordinates. The question \u201cWhere are you?\u201d is more of a lament. Like, \u201cWhat happened to you?\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened to our walks together? <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why aren\u2019t you showing up? <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What happened to the thing we had going together?<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s honestly heartbreaking.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I noticed something else too: Although Adam and Eve had to leave the garden, they didn\u2019t go alone. God went with them<\/em>.<\/strong> He\u2019s still interacting with them, still involved in their family and lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can still be with Him, still talk with Him, still partner with Him, and still trust Him. This is true for us too. While we\u2019re in this messy in-between time\u2014waiting for the day when every tear is finally wiped from our eyes, and all that is wrong is made right and whole and perfect\u2014eternal life with God has already begun.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I may be a sinner, but I\u2019m not missing this opportunity. I don\u2019t want to ignore God and not show up. I don\u2019t want Him to ask, \u201cBrant\u2026what happened to us? Where are you?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not missing this. I\u2019m showing up for my walk with God.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
