God Will Come Through For You, Though It Might Not Look The Way You Imagined

When something bad happens, our first thought is always “God get me out of here!!” We want out of the financial strains, we want out of the diagnosis, we want out of the conflict. And that’s perfectly normal! There’s nothing wrong with that!

But have you noticed, most of the time, God chooses to leave us in those situations?

I was reading in Daniel 6 about how Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den and sealed in with a stone. In the morning, the King went running to the den asking Daniel if he was alive and if God had rescued him. Daniel said in verse 22, “My God sent his angel and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me.”

God could have easily just taken Daniel out of the lion’s den, right? But instead, He left Daniel in the den. During this time, Daniel had to trust God, he had to remind himself of who God is, he had to know that God is good. Could you imagine how scary it would be to be surrounded by a bunch of hungry lions??? Daniel had to trust that God was going to come through for him, even though it might not look the way he wanted it to.

God didn’t leave Daniel alone. He sent an angel to help him and the angel shut the lions’ mouths. God could have either removed Daniel or the lions. But that’s not what He did. He left Daniel in the den, He left the lions in the den, but He removed the power that the lions had over him and gave him company.

What does your lion’s den look like?

God can pull you out of it of course, but He might instead send you some help and grow you in the midst of it. So maybe your prayer can look a little bit more like this today, “Lord help me to see what you’re teaching me in this. Show me where you’ve sent me help, where you’ve shut the mouths of the hungry lions and highlight the path I’m supposed to go down today.”
